Croatian Coast in the Winter…

Rijeka, Croatia I have to say the city of Zagreb is a pretty cool place. It has a ski area with a solid World Cup slalom trail right next to it and has the beautiful Mediterranean coast only an hour and a half way. I went Rijeka for the weekend and got to check out the coast going north one day and south the other. Below are some pics…

I set up my schedule so I could watch Adelboden, Switzerland World Cup races, which was pretty painful. I love that hill. However, it was great to see both Robby Kelley and Brennan Rubie qualify for the first time in GS. Robby finished 23rd and Rubie went out second run, which totally sucks because the more spots the US creates in GS the better. We don’t have that many spots, but Robby created a new one so good on him! Seeing Ted win is always fun to watch and seeing his lead against Hirscher in the GS title grow was nice as well. Also watching Leif Kristian Haugen put down another solid performance is awesome.

As for my most recent teammate, Ivica Kostelic, he had a really amazing weekend. Finishing 5th in GS and 4th in slalom was really impressive and it looks like his knee is becoming less of a problem. Really pumped to see that!!!! Too bad for Tim Jitloff and Tommy Ford, but they’re on it. The slalom was also super sweet to see David Chodounsky crush second run and finish 10th. Good work guys.

I’m in Daruvar, Croatia getting full on therapy everyday starting today. It’s a rehab center, which should be pretty sweet and is in the middle of nowhere, which is probably good too. It might get a bit boring out here. It seems like mostly and elderly housing home. I’m seeing a good doc tomorrow so it should be good and planning to return to racing in Garmsich.
