NEW ZEALAND!!

Queenstown, New Zealand :  This place is a definitely one of my second homes!!  After spending a semester of college down here in 2003 with Chris Frank, I have always loved New Zealand.  It’s changed a ton in the last 9 years, but it’s still one of my favorite places in the world.

View from the summit of Coronet Peak.

I have been down here for 10 days.  I skied the first two days doing drills and my back was bothering me so I caught up with Christa the USST physio and have been working with her ever since.  She has been super helpful getting some of my leg muscles to stay activated.   I have been skiing one day on one day off ever since.  Yesterday, I felt like a ski racer again.  I haven’t been in gates and won’t get into them until my body feels ready.  The conditions down here are challenging and rugged so my one goal is to not do anything stupid and push my recovery backwards.  The plan I’m on is to continue to tax my back with increasing intensity and it seems to be going well giving me more and more confidence every day.

Every road back to racing is moving in the right direction.

View of Lake Wakatipu about 100 yards from where I’m living with the Cafe residence.

Oh Heidi’s Hutt!!

View of the lanes from the T-Bar in Rocky Gully.  As you can see there isn’t nearly as much snow as other years, but the snow that is here is hard and rugged.

Cheers from Queenstown and Coronet Peak, w
