Newport Bermuda Race
Arrowhead, Steve Berlack’s J42, is only 105 nautical miles away from the finish. This is the boat I planning on racing on until it became clear my back wasn’t ready for the full contact sailing.
I’m pretty happy I made the right decisions to not race, but it looked like an epic one. Rambler shattered the course record by 14 hours to finish 39 hours and 40 minutes. The winds were high for the beginning of the race so the bigger boats were able to make it into Bermuda extremely quickly. The wind has lightened up so the later boats – like Arrowhead – won’t be winning on corrected time, but it looks like it was a pretty epic race.
Here is a picture of Rambler hammering to the finish!!
Keep fighting fellaz!
